Dr. Molly McElrath
Dr. Molly McElrath grew up in Marin County, located in Northern California. She was a competitive athlete and trained on the Stanford Junior Olympic diving team. Her diving career and strong interest in agriculture landed her at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she competed on their Division 1 diving team. At Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, she earned her B.S. in Animal Science. During her time at Cal Poly she was actively involved in many enterprises, where she gained invaluable hands-on experience.
After graduating from Cal Poly, she attended Western University of Health Sciences to obtain her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. During veterinary school, she was heavily involved in the student chapter of American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) and the student chapter of American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. She also served as the Western University student delegate for AABP. After graduating, Dr. McElrath went on to become a certified whole food formulator for JustFoodForDogs, where she formulates custom whole food diets for dogs and cats. She then went on to study Veterinary Acupuncture at Chi University in Florida.
Dr. McElrath is thrilled to be returning to the area to practice mixed animal medicine, as that is a true passion of hers. Dr. McElrath’s professional interests include Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, preventative care, and nutrition. When she’s not at work, she can be found paddle boarding, hiking, or riding her horse. Dr. McElrath has a feisty cross-eyed kitty that she adopted in college and a spirited paint horse that she bought when she was in high school. Dr. McElrath looks forward to meeting the wonderful residents of San Luis Obispo county and their beloved pets.
